Dr. Anderson is thrilled to welcome his daughter, Licensed Acupuncturist Alice Honican, to the Longevity Staff.
An Acupuncture Crash Course:
Meridians are energy channels which course throughout the body.
Chi circulates via the meridians to all parts of the body.
The unimpeded flow of chi is imperative for good health, and any misdirection, blockage or other interruption of the flow of chi may result in pain, dysfunction and poor health.
Using fine needles, an acupuncturist stimulates certain points along the course of the 14 meridians. This act restore the balance and flow of chi so that the body and its systems can function normally.
Acupuncture sets the stage for the body to repair itself and maintain its own health.
Acupuncture for Pain Relief:
The placement of acupuncture needles at specific pain points releases endorphins and opioids, the body’s natural painkillers, as well as neurotransmitters to the brain. There is also evidence that stimulating acupuncture points may increase the rate of healing to injured areas. When pain is relieved, patients feel a greater overall sense of well-being, both physically and emotionally. As a result, they may heal faster.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture
What is Facial Rejuvenation?
Facial Rejuvenation is an effective, non-surgical treatment designed to reduce the signs of aging. It is sometimes referred to as an Acupuncture Facelift or Cosmetic Acupuncture. However, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is more than a cosmetic procedure. It is a rejuvenation process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture was originally developed for patients with paralyzed muscles from Bell’s palsy or stroke. The result of the treatment was so cosmetically pronounced overtime that it was transformed into a program for anti-aging and beauty.
How does it work?
Facial Rejuvenation utilizes a micro-current device and possibly the insertion of very thin, disposable needles along the acupuncture points of the face and body. Points are chosen to increase local circulation and stimulate collagen production. This will fill out the lines and give firmness to the skin for a healthy, glowing complexion. Anti-oxidant based creams are driven into the face with the micro-current, so the procedure should be administered to skin that is clear of cosmetics or lotions.
What is Micro-Current?
Micro-current is the closest known electrical current that can be delivered on a nearly identical level as the electrical current the human body naturally produces. Micro-current can increase levels of A.T.P. by as much as 500% above normal baseline. Disease originates inside the cells and can be due to low A.T.P. Other positive effects of Micro-current include: Fibroblastic Activation, DNA Syntheses, T-Lymphocyte Activation, Insulin Binding, and Calcium Channel Opening. In summary, Micro-current Facial Rejuvenation not only makes you look younger, it also makes your cells healthier.
What is the cost per session?
The first session costs $50. A treatment plan will be made based upon the patient’s individual needs. This session will last approximately 30 minutes. Follow up treatments are $40 and last approximately 20 minutes. It is suggested for maximum effect to come 2 times a week for 5 weeks with possible tune ups every couple of months. The only preparation for this procedure is to come in with a freshly washed face without lotion.
Stop Smoking Treatments:
For those who want to quit smoking, acupuncture directed to selected points in the body may help curb the desire to smoke, according to a report in the journal Preventive Medicine (Vol. 33: 364-372). Longevity Health Center - along with Acupuncturist Alice Honican - uses an acupuncture technique which helps to balance energy and release endorphins to maximize wellbeing during the withdrawal process.
Alice is available for treatment Monday thru Thursday 9 - 4, Friday 9 -2
