The plight of those suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia was recently brought to the forefront of public attention by the media during the lady’s world soccer finals. Michelle Akers, the team captain, played in spite of the quality of life crippling, insidious nature of this illness. Michelle is no doubt a hero, but equally heroic effort is required by the millions of sufferers of these debilitating illnesses just to minimally function on a daily basis. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome describes a constellation of symptoms which include extreme fatigue, depression, sore throats, and swelling of the lymph nodes. Those suffering from Fibromyalgia often experience the same symptoms, with the addition of soreness and aching of the muscles. Often there is a cyclical nature to these illnesses; the symptoms periodically wax and wane.
Paradoxically, it is difficult to diagnose these illnesses using conventional medical diagnostic techniques. From a biochemical point of view those suffering from these illnesses appear to be the picture of health. Often the only biochemical finding is a slightly elevated titer for Epstein Bar Virus. To further complicate matters, millions of people present these elevated virus titers who have no symptoms whatsoever. Those suffering from these illnesses not only have to deal with the physical and emotional symptoms, they often encounter little sympathy or understanding from their medical professionals, family, employers, or society at large.
To further complicate the plight of those with these illnesses, modern medicine has very little to offer. In some instances anti-inflammatory drugs ameliorate the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Some sufferers experience a measure of relief from antidepressant drugs, which has led many physicians to incorrectly believe that these illnesses are psychosomatic.
For many suffering from these illnesses the only solace comes from support groups of other sufferers. Indeed it has been these support groups that have fought the uphill battle of educating the medical profession and the public.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia are primarily viral syndromes. The causative agents are Epstein Bar Virus (EBV), Cytomegalie Virus (CMV), and Coxsackie Virus. EBV and CMV are both Herpes family viruses and both cause mononucleosis in their acute infectious stage. Coxsackie virus is in the polio virus family. Other viruses in the Herpes family have also been implicated in these illnesses, but not as frequently.
These illnesses pose many problems from a medical perspective. EBV has been dismissed as the underlying causative agent because many with positive titers to this virus don’t present the symptoms of these illnesses. Others who do suffer from these illnesses don’t present the positive titers to EBV. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, therefore, do not neatly fit into the medical model of having a single causative agent. This fact doesn’t help sufferers to gain sympathy in the medical community.
Many researchers feel that these viruses were introduced to humans through the immunization program. This would explain why such a large percentage of the population presents positive titers to EBV, CMV , and Coxsackie viruses. Still the problem remains that not everyone with positive viral titers suffers with fatigue. In 1987 I began to observe that most patients who were suffering from debilitating fatigue presented negative regulation patterns when studied with Segmentelectrography. The Segment electrograph was developed by the Vega Grieshaber firm of West Germany. It is operated by computer, independent of the practitioner, and is therefore one of the only completely objective tools for evaluating the energetic regulatory system. Objectivity studies were performed on this device at the University of f Heidelberg. Series of test results of healthy subjects were studied by statisticians and showed "an insignificant degree of variation", attesting to the objectivity of this equipment.
It is interesting to note that only patients suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia present negative regulation patterns. With Segmentelectrography electrodes are applied to the forehead, cervical, thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, and upper thighs. These electrodes effectively create eight measurement zones: head left and right, chest left and right, abdomen left and right, and pelvis left and right. The electrodes measure a series of skin conductance values. After taking a measurement, a low intensity 13 hertz provocative stimulus is introduced, and the measurement repeated. Predictably when the skin is stimulated there is an increase in skin conductance values. The device records the conductance values in a series of bar graphs. With normal regulation, the bar graphs look like steps going up. The opposite occurs with negative regulation. The bar graph results look like descending steps.
In 1988 the North American Journal of Acupuncture published my Segment electrographic studies of over thirty CFS patients. It is interesting to note that by means of the Vega Bio feedback method of electro acupuncture screening, it was determined that all of these patients also suffered from the adverse effects of man made electrical or geologically induced magnetic fields of disturbance. These patients were all treated with homeopathic medicines, and instructed as to how to shelter themselves from disturbing electromagnetism.
Also noteworthy (and these results have now been repeated with hundreds of patients) is that after treatment the previously negative regulation patterns always change to normal positive regulation, except in those instances where the patient does not, or can not ( due to occupational electromagnetic exposure) comply with the instructions for shielding themselves from these debilitating fields.
- Although there are certainly many who suffer from systemic yeast infections, heavy metal toxicity, hypothyroidism, etc., who are chronically fatigued, CFS and Fibromyalgia are viral syndromes.
- There is no single causative virus. Epstein Bar, Cytomegalie, and Coxcackie viruses are most commonly implicated.
- A high percentage of the population present positive titers to one or more of these viruses, which lends credibility to the theory that these viruses may have been introduced into humans by the mass immunization program.
- Not nearly as high a percentage of the population suffers from CFS and Fibromyalgia as present these positive viral titers.
- Those suffering from CFS or Fibromyalgia present negative regulation patterns with Segmentelectrography. Follow up studies present normal positive regulation patterns; only when treated for the causative virus and additionally sheltered from disturbing electromagnetic radiation.
From these observations we can conclude:
- We have all been exposed to Epstein Bar, Cytomegalie, or Coxcackie viruses (most likely through immunization). Those who develop CFS and Fibromyalgia have received additional disturbing electromagnetic radiation. It is likely, therefore, that this form of radiation somehow activates what would otherwise be dormant viruses.
There is help for those suffering from these illnesses. The majority experience significant improvement within 90 – 120 days of initiating treatment. Fibromyalgia appears to take longer to respond than CFS. Many who suffer from Fibromyalgia additionally are burdened with Mercury, Aluminum, or some other heavy metal toxin. The recovery process involves peeling away layers of toxicity.

In last month’s article we discussed the viral origins of CFS and Fibromyalgia, and the strong probability that the underlying causative viruses were introduced via the immunization program. This month we’ll examine some viable treatment options.
The first priority in treating these illnesses is to shelter the sleeping environment of the sufferer. We have previously observed that over 90% of the population has positive antibodies for Epstein Bar, Coxsackie, or Cytomegalo viruses, substantiating the argument that humans were exposed from immunizations. Although millions of people suffer from chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia, certainly the percentage comes nowhere near 90% of the population. A very high percentage of sufferers have also been exposed to geopathic and disturbing electromagnetic fields of disturbance, which appear to activate viruses which would otherwise remain dormant.
Geo means earth as in geography. Pathy reefers to illness. Geopathic disturbances are literally disturbances in earth radiations leading to illness. We are particularly sensitive to these subtle radiations when we are sleeping. Two common causes of geopathic stress are faults in the earth’s crust and subterranean streams. If one’s bed is positioned over a fault or an underground stream, magnetism from the core of the earth is subtly altered, creating a negative polarity around the body during sleep. Sufferers from these disturbances often sleep into aggravation. They usually feel worse when they wake up in the morning than when they went to sleep the night before. They are rarely clear headed upon arising. Occasionally they will feel somewhat better when they sleep away from their usual home environment. Oftentimes patients who have been affected by these disturbances don’t respond well to other modalities. Many Chiropractors report that these patients do not hold their adjustments.
We at the Longevity Health Center feel that it is imperative to shelter chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia sufferers from disturbing geopathic fields, and to correct the negative impact these disturbances have on the sufferer. Geopathic disturbances can be detected with Vega Bio feedback testing, and must be corrected by utilizing acupuncture protocols.
Electromagnetic disturbances are usually caused by sleeping in close proximity to some electrical device that is a field emitter. We are all exposed to electro magnetic fields (EMF’s), from such devices as computers, televisions, cellular phones, and hair dryers. Occasionally electromagnetic stress is caused from occupational exposure or power lines, but in the great majority of situations the disturbance is caused by sleeping with an electric blanket, using a heating pad or mattress warmer at night, sleeping on a waterbed with electric heater, positioning a cordless phone, answering machine or other device with a transformer plug too close to the bed, not removing one’s wrist watch during sleep, or sleeping too close to an electric clock, television, or power meter.
Chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia sufferers should immediately shelter their sleeping environments from EMF’s. Additionally it is imperative to correct the impact of these disturbances by means of the same acupuncture techniques employed with geopathic disturbances.
Research has shown that moderate exercise can be a valuable part of the chronic fatigue protocol. This is often the last thing that those suffering from this illness wish to undertake.
Antioxidants are an important part of the treatment protocol. Buffered Vitamin C is helpful, as is CoQ 10. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) is another coenzyme that appears to facilitate energy production. NADH has been approved by the FDA for clinical trials for CFS sufferers, and has thus far proven to be significant.
Perhaps the most important mineral to supplement in these illnesses is magnesium. Studies have shown CFS patients tend to have low levels of this important mineral, and magnesium with mallic acid often ameliorates the symptoms of Fibromyalgia.
St. John’s Wort is an herb that is utilized as a mood elevator. A high percentage of those suffering with CFS and Fibromyalgia experience depression. Additionally, St. John’s Wort has anti-viral properties.
These illnesses both have an underlying viral etiology. It is therefore important to support immune system function. Thymic preparations are useful, as are Mitake and Shitake mushroom extracts. The mushroom extracts have proven themselves in clinical trials with Aids patients conducted at the University of Miami.
Most Fibromyalgia and CFS patients also suffer from systemic yeast infections. Yeast is an opportunist that thrives when the immune system is suppressed. Dysbiosis (an unhealthy bacterial environment in the intestines) provides the perfect "petri dish" in which this opportunist can thrive. Probiotics such as acidophilus and bifidus help to create a healthy intestinal terrain.
In Europe homeopathic nosodes are employed in the treatment of these illnesses. A nosode is prepared by diluting viruses, bacteria, and other toxins according to the principles of homeopathic pharmacy. The nosodes appear to activate the immune system against pathogens it has learned to coexist with. This form of therapy has been widely utilized in Germany since the early 19S0’s, and is particularly helpful in neutralizing viruses. Most electro diagnostic modalities were originally developed in Germany. Practitioners who utilize these modalities usually employ these powerful remedies.
There is much misinformation about Fibromyalgia and CFS. It is true that there are very few effective anti-viral drugs, and conventional medicine offers little in the way of sympathy or support to sufferers of these illnesses. Many former sufferers who have employed the recommendations in this article report living normal lives today. Seneca B.
